Let us talk

Why, my friend,
Do you stand atop a mountain
While I am stranded in the valley
Where I crane my neck
To stare up at you
As you look down upon me
And the setting sun of Reason
Throws shadows upon my face
That you see not
Your mothersisterloverfriend
But a dark distorted mask
And the crimson halo of the dusk
Lends a demonic glow to the face
Of you-- my other half?

Here, the echoes fool with our voices
And the light plays tricks on our eyes.

Let us walk out into the plains
And leave this madness behind;
Let us enjoy the cool night breeze
As we talk, my friend-- let us talk.

Unsung

How unfortunate

That we feel only

The scorching heat of Shakespeare’s passion,

And not the warmth of the tea

That Amma somehow, invariably, makes right on time

That it may be just the sort of lukewarm

That Achan likes.
